Mountain Bear

Bear walking through the mountains of mid-Wales, a common sight (1000 years ago!). The original is painted with ink and salt on 600 gsm Italian paper with a rough edge. The print is from a high resolution photograph, tonally corrected and enhanced so that all the textures and marks of the original are preserved.

“My artworks are a response to the movement of the wild, the endless transitions, the appearances and disappearances of forms, the half seen and half lit.  Ancient Chinese poets believed that the world, the ten thousand things, appeared out of nothing, danced for a while, then returned to where they came from, to emerge later in other forms. It is the perfect way to think about nature, and about art.”
