The Dipper in the Deep Wood

The Dipper in the Deep Wood was created in early summer when a pair of dippers nested beneath the bridge which crosses the little river Arrow near the entrance to an ancient oak wood. The pair raised two broods successfully and all of the birds can now be seen flitting from stone to stone on the river. Little nodding devotees of the water. The picture was painted using black ink mixed with salt. The image was then manipulated while wet using pens, brushes, sticks and blotting paper to create texture and a sense of movement.
